Harper readies for Frontier Days celebration
Harper’s 55th annual Frontier Days will be held Friday & Saturday May 17th and 18th at the Harper Community Park. This is Armed Forces weekend, so please help us celebrate our active military personnel.
A weekend of activities are planned with the annual rodeo highlighting the action on Saturday night! The Harper Community Park Association is once again proud to have the Crenwelge Auto Group as our title sponsor for the weekend. This is the Parks annual fundraiser, so all proceeds benefit the Community Park & its operations.
Friday evening will see team roping competition at the park rodeo arena. Registration begins at 6 pm with competition at 7 pm. There will be a cash payout & the top 5 teams will rope in the Harper Frontier Days Rodeo on Saturday May 18th. Buckles will be awarded to Champion Header & Heeler Saturday night! The concession stand will also be open from 6 pm till midnight!
Saturday will see a host of events…at 11 am the water slide opens for the kids and the washer tournament will begin, with a $1,000 total purse…registration starts at 10 am. At 1 pm the kids fishing tournament gets started along with the 42 tournament.
The annual downtown parade will be held at 3 pm. Online registration & information is available on the Parks web site: www.harpercommunitypark.org or pick up an entry at the Post office or Dauna’s Store. Wrapping up the afternoon there will be a Bar BQ brisket & sausage meal served at 5 pm. Live music will be on tap to add to everyone’s enjoyment, so come out & enjoy some great Bar BQ under our stand of old pecan trees. Local residents will be handling the pit for this annual fund raiser, so look for some great meat off the pit!! Like any old fashioned community fund raiser, there will be a cake auction at 6 pm, so come prepared to bid on some incredible cakes & cobblers from Harper’s finest!
Wrapping up the weekend will be a Lester Meier produced rodeo kicking off at 7:30 pm. After the rodeo, if you feel like dancing, head on over to Tres Molinos Ranch & Resort for the Pat Waters concert & dance beginning at 9:30 pm. The Park concession stand will be open from 10 am till midnight.
All proceeds benefit Harper Community Park Association. The park is located at 211 Pioneer Park Dr. off Hwy 290 West in Harper. C’mon out for some family fun!!
This years Frontier Days have been postponed until a later date. Recent rains have compromised our ability to perform
required maintenance to Park grounds & rodeo arena.
