Harper Frontier Days announces new dates !
The 55th annual Frontier Days, benefiting Harpers' Community Park will be held May 17th and 18th 2019. After decades of holding this Community Park benefit during Labor Day weekend, the Park Board recently voted to move activities to the 3rd weekend in May.
Upon reviewing Labor Day weekend and the many events in our area. It was determined there were a total of 9 events competing with each other. From Brady, to Boerne, to Doss, there are many events and activities for area residents to participate in, making it more difficult for Harpers Frontier Days to grow. "It was a difficult decision" stated Board member Mike Zenner.
The entire Board appreciated the importance of the history and tradition of having this event Labor Day weekend. But the reality was, it was becoming more & more difficult to find enough local volunteers, as they were attending other events. The Boards intent is to begin a new tradition on the 3rd weekend of May as this is Armed Forces weekend.
More information will be coming out as to the schedule for Frontier Days events, but Friday night ( May 17), will once again see county wide team roping competition. Saturdays schedule (May 18th) will differ from prior years. Many activities will be in place during the day, Kids fishing tournament, water slides for the kids, as well as a Washer Toss & 42 tournaments. The parade will start at 3:00 pm and lead by The Six White Horses from Hardin-Simmons University. There will be a BBQ meal served at 5 PM in the Park, followed at 7:30 PM by our always great Rodeo, produced by the Lester Meir Rodeo Company.
NEW Flags at the entrance to the park.
This years Frontier Days have been postponed until a later date. Recent rains have compromised our ability to perform
required maintenance to Park grounds & rodeo arena.
